West Indian sandalwood (Amixiang tree) is an oily aromatic small tree in the Rutaceae family. The plant can grow about 2 to 4 meters in height. The wood of West Indian sandalwood must be dried for at least one year. Dry wood stored for 2 or 3 years before distillation can extract more oil content. Before distillation, it must be crushed and planed into wood chips. After soaking the wood chips in spring water for 24 hours, the essential oil will be obtained by steam distillation. The oil is a light yellow or brownish-yellow, slightly viscous liquid. It has a woody sweet fat oil. Incense, often used in perfume or cosmetics.
